Many parts of gut perform the function of endocrine system. The important hormones secreted by the gut are as

1.                  Gastrin

Locations

·         Mucosa of the pyloric region of the stomach produced this hormone.

Function

·         The secretion of the gastric juice is stimulated by it.

Production of this hormone

·         When the protein food is partially digested, this stimulates the production of gastrin hormone.

2.                  Secretin

Location

·         When the acid food touches the lining of duodenum then it is produced.

Function

·         The production and release of pancreatic juice in the pancreas is stimulated by this hormone.

·         The rate of bile production in the liver is also affected by it.
