Apoptosis and Necrosis
Apoptosis
·
It is a Greek word which means falling off or dropping off.
·
Programmed death cell which may include deletion
of entire structure.
Importance of apoptosis
·
Apoptosis helps to maintain the number of
neurons during development.
·
Tail of human developing embryo is removed by
this process.
Ways of programmed death cell
·
The first way is that, when the signals are
absent cell may commit suicide.
·
The second way is that, by killing signals from
other cells, cells are murdered.
Mechanisms of apoptosis
·
First of all, shrinking of the cell occur.
·
Then it condenses and split out.
·
Small membrane bounded apoptotic bodies are
released.
·
Then other cells eat these apoptotic bodies by
the process of phagocytosis.
Necrosis
·
It is the accidental cell death because of the
tissue damage or injury.
Mechanism of necrosis
·
Swelling and bursting of typical cell occur as a
result its intracellular contents are released outside which can damage the
neighboring cell due to which inflammation occur.
