Blood Disorders
There are many types of blood
disorders but the most common disorders are leukaemia and thalassaemia which
are as following;
1.
Leukaemia;
Definition
It is the formation of large number
of immature leucocytes (white blood cells) in an abnormal way.
It is also known as blood cancer.
Causes
In bone marrow or lymph tissue
cells, cancerous mutations (genes change) occur which is a main cause of blood
cancer.
Results
The defective white blood cells are
produced in uncontrolled manner due to this mutation. It is a very serious
disorder.
Treatment
Patient’s defected blood is
regularly changed with the normal blood which he got from donor.
Bone marrow transplant is also a
good treatment; although this is an effective treatment but too expensive.
2.
Thalassaemia;
Introduction
This blood disorder is also called Cooley’s
anemia on the name of Thomas B. Cooley, an American physician who introduced
this term.
Causes
Mutation occurs in the genes of hemoglobin
which is the genetic problem and cause blood cancer. The defective hemoglobin
is produced due to this mutation and oxygen is not properly regulated in the patient’s
body.
Treatment
·
Patient needs to change his defective blood with
the normal blood of donor regularly.
·
Bone marrow transplantation is also possible but
it does not give 100% results.
