Introduction to cell biology:
Cell is
the basic component of human life. All life processes owe because only of cell
and its activities.
The biological sciences
based on cell theory which states as
Ø All cells exist
from pre-existing cells.
Ø Cell is the
basic structural and functional unit of life.
Ø All living
organisms are made up of one or more cells.
So here we will
discuss about animal cell in detail and about its organelles.
First of all I will
briefly explain here the animal cell and from which it is made up of.
Ø Glyoxysomes
Ø Cell membrane
Ø Cytoplasm
Ø Centrosomes
Ø Mitotic apparatus
Ø Lysosomes
Ø Flagella
Ø Nucleus
Ø Vacuoles
Ø Storage products
We will discuss one by
one all these in our next section
Types of cell:
There are two types of
cell present in organisms.
Ø Eukaryotic cell
Ø Prokaryotic cell
The organisms
containing prokaryotic cells are known as prokaryotes.
The organisms
containing eukaryotic cells are known as eukaryotes.
Eukaryotic cell
is more complex and advanced form of cell. Prokaryotic cell is old and predominant
type of cell that was found in bacteria in the past. Here we will discuss that
what things or features defines an eukaryotic cell and one by one we will go
through all the details of organelles found in the eukaryotic cell. Following is
the brief summary of structures found in the eukaryotic cell.
·
Well defined nucleus:
·
DNA which is present in nucleus. It is of linear
type.
·
Membrane bounded organelles are present
·
Ribosomes which are large(80 S)
·
Cytoskeleton
·
Cell wall which is made up of cellulose or chitin.
·
Cell membrane in which sterols are present
·
Cell division is by mitosis or meiosis.
·
Histone proteins are present
·
Flagellum is present having composition tubulin
protein.
·
Example include animal and plant cell.
