Male Reproductive System
Male reproductive system consists of following parts;
Testis
In sac like scrotum, a pair of
testis is present that lies outside the body.
Copulatory Organ
Transfer of sperms into female
reproductive tract is done by the structure called Copulatory organ.
Seminiferous
Tubules
Highly complex duct system called
seminiferous tubules present in the testis.in these tubules, the cells of the
germinal epithelium divides repeatedly and produce spermatozoa.
Spermatids
Spermatozoa increase in size and
are differentiated into primary spermatocytes. Meiotic division occurs in
primary spermatocytes and secondary spermatocytes are formed and finally spermatids
are formed. Spermatids are differentiated into sperms.
Sertoli Cells
These cells secrete fluid which
gives protection, nourishment and liquid medium to sperms when these sperms are
present in the tubules.
Vas Deferens
The main duct of the male
reproductive tract called vas deferens in which sperms are transferred.
Epididymis
Vas deferens forms highly
convoluted structure called epididymis. Through urinogenital duct, sperms are
passed and discharged.
